1) Bureaucratic Corruption

The government of the Philippines is infested with thieves whose brains are infected by Ebola virus that bleed insatiable greed for wealth and power.
Only a small amount of the national budget is being allocated for pragmatic economic projects such as the construction of dams which are very vital for the irrigation of existing agricultural lands and to develop more farmlands that would eventually cure the chronic problem of food shortages. Dams would also precipitate the construction of more hydro-electric plants which are the viable solutions for severe power outages around the country.
Budget for building new roads and paving old roads is almost out of every politician's agenda without realizing that roads are essential for the transportation of agricultural products from farms to the markets.
Through building more infrastructures, jobs would be created for the jobless workers that would provide them purchasing power which is vital for a healthy cycle of money, very essential for the survival of the national economy.
There is no budget given for the livelihood and agricultural programs that would empower the poor peasants, in fact, they are being neglected and deep buried in constant hunger. Due to the severe corruption in the department of agriculture, the prices of fertilizers, insecticides, as well as pesticides are beyond the reach of the farmers. The saddest thing, the price of their agricultural products are so cheap that they could not afford to buy goods to live decently and of course fertilizers to give them good yields.
Sad but true, from baranggay tanods to military generals, from barangay kagawads to legislators, including the officials of Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao and some of the President's cabinet members are having constant illicit love affair with corruption.
Billions of pesos went into the personal accounts of the politicians than social services to alleviate poverty of the masses.
2) Climate Change
The Dramatic rise in temperature dries up more agricultural lands that simply turned into futile lands, even weeds could not survive the blazing heat of the sun. Farmers who live and subsist dependently on these lands are simply losing their means of living that would eventually throw them into the pit of poverty.
The dramatic rise of temperature is the main culprit of global warming which determines extreme weather changes that created stronger storms such as Typhoon Yolanda that dislocate more families and devastated properties that worth billion of pesos. Due to extreme weather changes, millions of individuals became poor overnight with their homes swept into the sea, cars eaten by floods and their souls swallowed by storm's nightmares.
3) Rapid population growth
Philippines is an agricultural country which means that most of the people subsist on agricultural lands with few resources and inadequate production that could not support the needs of families with 6 or more members. Mathematically, if a family of 6 members subsists on a land that could only produce goods for the 3 members,thus, the other 3 members of the family will suffer hunger.
4) Cultural Mediocrity
Filipinos waste most of their time gambling with tong-its, playing mah-jong, watching non-sense tele-novelas, and men drinking tuba (coconut wine) as early as 9:00 am instead of working or planting cash crops that would provide them with extra income that would somehow pull them out from poverty.
5)Crab Mentality
Most Filipinos are envious against their fellow Filipinos who have elevated social status. They will do everything to devastate the character by spreading lies and intrigues, ruin the means of living just to pull these guys down towards poverty.
